Journey to Improvement

The Journey to Improvement EmailPrint

If you happen to recognize symptoms of depression in yourself, the key is not to let worry take over. In fact, recognizing symptoms is an essential first step on the road to feeling like yourself again.

This website is here to help you reconnect with the person you once were and the quality of life you once enjoyed. The first steps are especially important:

1. Learn more about depression

Learn about how depression affects you and talk to your doctor. Start here by viewing Understanding Depression.

2. Talk to your friends and family

You don’t have to face depression alone. Your loved ones can be a source of comfort and emotional support and may be able to help you find a doctor or therapist. Many people often find relief in talking about how they feel with friends and family.

3. Make an appointment with a doctor

Visit your doctor or another healthcare professional to discuss any possible symptoms you may be feeling. They can tell you whether you have depression and work with you to plan a course of action that you feel good about. Your doctor may also suggest you see a specialist, such as a psychiatrist or a therapist. Remember, the most important step on your journey to improvement is the first step, talking to your doctor.
